We are delighted to advise you of a new Night & Day presentation regarding the Great American Songbook, this time for the wonderful Washington Metro Oasis located in Bethesda, MD.
With the coming of Rock and Roll in the ’50’s, the great days of Gershwin, Cole Porter and others were fast coming to an end. The 1960’s produced an explosion of new music by Bob Dylan and the Beatles, to name of few, but were any of these tunes destined to become a part of the Songbook?
A closer look at 60’s reveals that awesome tunes were still being written. We’ll take a look a the songs of Bert Bachrach, Motown, Henry Mancini and Antonio Carlos Jobim (bossa nova). Michael Suser will give a brief history of the composers, followed by a performance of some of the best tunes by vocalist Charlene Cochran, accompanied by Michael on keyboard.
